Ambarish S Vidyarthi

Prof Ambarish S. Vidyarthi involved with the planning and execution of a number of research and teaching programs in biotechnology and bioprocess engineering for the past 2 decades has took over the office of Vice-Chancellor, Bikaner Technical University, Bikaner on May 04, 2021. Previous to his current assignment he served as the Director of two government engineering colleges; Nanhi Pari Seemant Engineering Institute, Pithoragarh, an institute established by the Government of Uttarakhand in 2011 and Institute of Engineering & Technology, Lucknow, established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 1985. Prof Vidyarthi, in his credit, the youngest Professor who had created the world-class research and teaching infrastructure at Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi while serving the institution from 2003 to 2014.

Prof Vidyarthi has significant contribution in the area of industrial & environmental biotechnology, food biotechnology, cancer biology, computational biology & bioinformatics and completed more than 10 sponsored R&D projects including network projects. Prof Vidyarthi has supervised 25 PhDs, 67 PG dissertations and published over 275 research publications in peer reviewed journals and symposia. Prof Vidyarthi is associated with several academic institutions and S&T agencies for the development and management of biotech activities in the country.

Prof Vidyarthi born on February 22, 1966; graduated and post graduated in Biochemical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur in 1989 and 1991 respectively and did his doctoral research at Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow during 1991-1994. Prof Vidyarthi served at managerial level in various bioprocess industries prior to his academic assignments. He had developed four technologies for production of thermo stable amylase, cellulases, fermentative production of amino acids particularly L-lysine and Bt based biopesticides and also two patents out of filed six Indian process patents on production of various biomolecules. Prof Vidyarthi also gained expertise in value additions to waste materials during his stay at institut nationale de la recherché scientifique, University of Quebec, Canada from 1999 to 2002. He has also actively involved in networking of various national institutions like, IARI, Delhi University, IINRG etc. and International Institutions such as University of Padova, Italy, Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, Manheim Institute of Applied Science, Germany, National Institute of Engineering, Tunisia with the parent organization for mutual benefit and for technology proliferation.

Prof Vidyarthi is a member of various advisory committees and Board of Studies of various premier academic institutions of the country. Dr Vidyarthi is the member of Biotechnology Advisory Committee of Jharkhand State, Jharkhand State Biotechnology Board, and nominated member of Task Force to various Union Ministries. Dr Vidyarthi has elected as Fellow of The Institutions of Engineers (India) & Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India) and is a member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Biotech Research Society of India (BRSI) and Association of Microbiologists of India.
